A heart attack occurs when the supply of blood to the heart is suddenly blocked, this is usually caused by a blood clot. Part of the heart will then become starved of oxygen this part of the heart will become injured and die. This is a heart attack. Symptoms can include the following: Person experiencing chest pain – the chest can feel like it is being pressed or squeezed by a heavy object, and pain can radiate from the chest. Person may be seen to be clenching their chest. A Stiff painful jaw, neck, arms and back A shortness of breath Feeling weak, dizzy and or lightheaded Overwhelming feeling of sadness and anxiety Nausea
