On the USS Midway museum in San Diego, Dec 28, 2014. SH2F undergoing rehab on the flight deck. New exterior paint paint job on main fuselage and most of the cabin is repainted. Buno is obscured but a post a few years ago indicated it was 150157. If so, this was the then SH2D that was the Navys first operational deployed LAMPS bird, HC-4 Det 1 which went aboard USS Belknap (DLG-26) in December 2001. I was a very young JG and landed her aboard with OIC LCDR Ed Higginbotham. Ed was in the right seat and I think I recall the deck was only marked for starboard approaches, but the ship was in narrow waters near Souda Bay, Crete, couldnt maneuver for wind, and so I got the landing from the left seat. Certainly not the last time there was improvisation in LAMPS!
