On the Welland Canal April 17, 1981 I did some detail shots of the classic Judith M. Pierson. It was in the Soo River colors, which was also their first boat, bought in 1976. The Judith M. Pierson started out as the William A. Amberg in 1917 at 550 feet long for the Hanna fleet, and is a twin to the Valley Camp museum ship at the Soo. It became Albert E. Heekin in 1932 then Silver Bay in 1955. Its other owners were Republic Steel and Kinsman. When Soo River folded in 1982, it and its fleetmates were sold to Parrish & Hiembecker and it carried the name Fernglen very briefly to the end of 1982. It would be scrapped in the next years. So here are some details of this classic of the Great Lakes!
