On the auspicious Independence Day I would like to offer my salutation to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi with utmost sincerity and high regards. Gandhiji was a great apostle of non-violence. Ahimsa is the first article of Gandhijis faith. I would like to offer my salutations to all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their valuable lives for the freedom and independence of our motherland India. As citizens of India we are marching ahead today on the domain of peace and progress. It is, however, a matter of regret to say that some misguided youths have forgotten the culture of non violence. Success can be achieved only through non violence. All burning issues can be resolved through peaceful dialogue. I therefore appeal to all the extremist groups to shun violence and return to the mainstream and request them 2 take part in the development work of Karbi Anglong. I would like all the extremist groups to follow the path of UPDS and KLNLF. The Government of Assam had agreed to lift requirements of SIU and PIU for the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council which is good news for us. I would like to announce that Government of Assam has provided a sum of Rs.24 crore as administrative grant which is incorporated in the State Budget of 2014-2015 to meet the salary shortfall of KAAC Secretariat. We are demanding a separate state compromising of the two hill districts of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. Under my leadership two rounds of talks have been held with Central Government for early implementation of Article 3 of the Indian Constitution. I would like to also inform that discussions with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India were been held for the full implementation of the MOS at the earliest. Lets us pledge ourselves to transform our country India into a strong prosperous land, a self reliant nation. Let us build a violence free and peaceful Karbi Anglong. Kardom! Jai Hind!
