On the auspicious occasion of Holi Celebration at Raj Bhavan, a group of 31 tourists comprising mostly of senior and retired government servants led by Retd. Colonel M. D. Kulkarni from Karad, Satara district of Maharashtra, called on Hon’ble Governor Shri Shriniwas Patil and Smt. Rajanidevi Patil in the evening on 16th March, 2014. A formal reception was organised at Ashirwad Bhawan where Hon’ble Governor offered traditional scarf to the visiting guests and greeted them on the occasion. Afterwards the visiting guests presented various items including songs and self composed poems in honour of Hon’ble Governor. The Hon’ble Governor while addressing the visitors highlighted the unique identity of the State, its strategic location, peaceful nature of its citizen, its environment and holy places of interests. Later a bon fire was organized symbolising traditional ‘Holika Dahan’in the premises which culminated with exchange of Holi greetings among the visitors and Hon’ble Governor. Continuing with the festivities, an in-house celebration of Holi at Raj Bhavan was organised on 17th March, 2014 with the children residing in the Raj Bhavan complex, ITBP Jawans posted at Raj Bhavan, Officers and Staffs of Raj Bhavan participating in the celebration which continued till late afternoon. The children and Jawans put the colours on Hon’ble Governor and the First Lady and exchanged greetings with dance and music. The First Lady Smt. Rajanidevi Patil was seen playing with the children engrossed in the mood of celebration. At the end, Hon’ble Governor extended his greetings and offered gifts to children and ITBP Jawans. He thanked all for making the moment really colourful and festive one.
