On the day you received Jesus, God deposited a portfolio of spiritual assets into your personal account in heaven. The Bible calls this your inheritance. This portfolio adds up to a life-altering birthright. Long before God flung the galaxies into space or filled the oceans with life, he looked down the corridors of time and previewed every day of your life. God saw every opportunity, every conflict, every relationship, every trial, every loss, every joy, and every test you will ever face. The Great Recession of ’08 didn’t sneak up on him and shout Boo! God knew all your days before you were born. But God didn’t just know, he also provided for all your days. That’s why David called him, “My Shepherd,” and Abraham called him, “the Lord Who Provides.” I picture God wrapping mountains of dazzling gifts with exquisite bows and silver ribbons with my name inscribed on golden tags. The gifts contain supernatural resources for every moment of my life. Power. Wisdom. Friends. Laughter. Money. Food. Shelter. Creativity. Grace. Mercy. Peace. Courage. Pleasure. Meatballs. Tenderness. Love. All the stuff I crave and strive for and need. God has already deposited everything I need into my portfolio of spiritual assets. Past tense. Done. It’s mine. Now, he says, go take it. Unwrap the gifts. Possess your possessions. Embrace your better reality. ~from a writing project. Hope it encourages you.
