On the eve of watching BDAW The New Model Army Story, at the - TopicsExpress

On the eve of watching BDAW The New Model Army Story, at the Electric in Birmingham, I was trying to think of a good question to pose to Justin at the Q&A after the movie. I came to the conclusion that I probably wouldnt be able to come up with one much different from anyone else in attendance, so instead decided to write down what NMA has meant to me over the years. In their world New Model Army have been writing and recording material for the past 34 years. This has produced some of the most, creative, moving and inspiring songs ever put down on vinyl.(tape and cd) But for myself, the fan, they have been creating frozen passages of time suspended in the mind for eternity, available at the flick of a switch. Each track evoking emotions, feelings and thoughts of that time, a happy place?, maybe a sad place ? but a place that is always revisited. It has created somewhere joyful, somewhere safe, somewhere to get lost in on the very worst of days. It has created this tribe, The Family, the craziest, maddest, most loyal band of pirates youre ever likely to meet, travelling the land to pay homage, wherever NMA have layed their hats. Apart from family or the place you live try and think of one constant in your life from childhood to present day, not many people can say a band. One that isnt a product of a bygone era, one that isnt doing an annual greatest hits tour for the cash, but one that has evolved, changed and grown with the times. To this band I am eternally grateful, for providing the soundtrack to my life and one I will follow till the end of my days. So as the final flames rise when my earth time is done, it will be to the sounds of this band, New Model Army, who have been there for so long to carry me through.
