On the flip side, there are unfortunately a lot of libertarians, yet -- who for some reason, cannot grasp the difference between intervening into conflicts where we face no direct threats, and confronting direct threats. Non-intervention is not the suggestion that we turn our guns into plows and hug our enemies in a big love fest. ISIS cannot be allowed to gain control of Iraq and Syrias assets. They are currently stateless rogue agents who have made direct threats to our nation, but could potentially gain access to far more potent means of carrying those threats out of we roll over. They are not politicking like North Korea does, for leverage. They are already making good on their genocidal goals, with us being named as next. ISIS is a direct threat to Westerners and Christians. Our neoconservative foreign policy of longterm occupation and destabilization paved the ground for their ascent. Going to congress and using Letters of Marque and Reprisal could be a solution. Declare al-Baghdadi an enemy to the United States and set him legally, as a target for elimination through Congressional authorization. Put bounties on his head. This is how we dealt with old-school pirates. Kill ISIS current leaders and crush their spirit enough to let Assad, the Kurds, and the Iraq military finish them off.
