On the fourth day of Christmas, Santa Clara gave to me: four hundred tons of carbon... 400 tons of carbon is the amount of greenhouse gasses offset by the SCU campus community in two years of the Hoofprint Challenge. Rather than purchase carbon offsets to negate Club Sports travel emissions, Campus Recreation engages our students, faculty, and staff in a pledge to conserve water, minimize energy use, reduce waste, and get involved in other sustainable behaviors. Each behavior is assigned a certain carbon offset amount, so every participant contributes to a collective local offset for Club Sports travel while developing a culture of sustainability. Campus Recreation is a leader in sustainable operations, education, and outreach on campus.
