On the news this morning was a commemoration of the Great Escape of 1944....in which no Americans at all were involved. Now you all know I like Americans and have lived in the USA but I can never watch that film again, I was so disappointed to find out its such pro-American nonsense. Isnt there a scene in the film where they even commorate the 4th of July? What with all these appalling Hollywood remakes like the dreadful Italian job, isnt it high time a remake-a factually accurate one-was made? It could be done for the telly, like these recent programmes like Fleming and The Lady Vanishes and so on. You couldnt make a cinema film of it as youd have to have an American actor in it to sell the bloody thing. Im still waiting for the Lord of The Rings bloke to remake the Dam Busters. Bet that wont happen without sticking an American in it.
