On the occasion of my 65th birthday, I would like to unveil a new project: We are planning a Hybrid Conference based in India and you or your organization may like to be involved On Facebook I have hardly mentioned leading the World Association for Online Education (WAOE) from Japan since it was recognized by the State of California as a non-profit public benefit corporation in 1998. The organization grew out of major online conferences starting from 1996. The WAOE is currently helping to plan a hybrid conference (both in-person and online) that will take place in Bangalore, the leading IT city in India. Some key points for your consideration: International Conference on Emerging Trends in Online Education: Issues and Challenges Around World Environment Day: 5-6 June 2015 local time in India F2F Venue: a school of Business Administration at a university in Bangalore Disciplinary focus: Management Education, particularly MBA programs. Noting the conference title above, e-learning pedagogy and technologies are pan-disciplinary. Sub-themes are still under discussion, but in my view another theme could be English as a Lingua Franca, considering its role in India as a bridge language, medium of instruction, and conference language. For now I will skip the details of WAOE support for the online aspects, communications and publications, and conference planning. The local organizer of the conference is a graduate school management department head, and so is the WAOE liaison who went to meet him recently. The WAOE has been blessed with many active Indian scholars. I would like to hereby extend the opportunity to you and your institution to find out more and possibly to participate in the event in some way. Management, Business Administration, or other departments of universities around the world may wish to collaborate or participate in this project. We will need more volunteers for the conference planning committee, as well as scholars to give presentations in person or online, and to publish a paper in either case. Contact Steve McCarty about the above points at waoesteve@gmail To get more involved with the WAOE, which has free membership for individuals interested in e-learning, see our home page for membership details and to join our discussion list WAOE-Views: waoe.org Or just like our Facebook page to receive more updates about the conference along with links to cutting edge issues in educational technology: facebook/waoepage
