On the opening Friday at this years event, a trio of professional bag snatchers followed Richard Willems into the reception of the Montepiedra Hotel and robbed his laptop bag with his computer and money inside (this was confirmed when watching CCTV footage afterwards). They disappeared without trace and did not return. We didnt want to make too much of a fuss about the robbery at the time so as to keep everyone at ease, after all that IS NOT the VB way !! A few people were told what had happened and advised to be careful with their belongings. Then Charley Browne, attending for the first time, instigated a collection between her friends to try and replace what had been stolen. Between Charley and Dave Law who also got people to contribute, €145 Euros was collected and given to Richard mid-week. This is just one of the stories from VB2014 that warms my heart.
