On the road home from the first leg of the #newparish book tour. I spent the last couple days in Golden Hill, San Diego with some of the wisest and most gracious parish leaders I know. If there was one house on the West Coast I could send you to learn the ways of an embedded community of faith and reconciliation - it would be the Casa De Yackleys. Laurie & Rob Yackley live the ways of Jesus with grace and fortitude and understand the formative process necessary for sustaining community in the neighborhood like very few people (plus they are fun). Our #newparish Salon was hosted at The Green House. The house was packed and it was very exciting to see all the leaders from around San Diego that are moving toward parish expressions in their own communities. Christiana Chase Rice (emcee and presenter at Inhabit Conference) hosted the gathering and led the Q&A. This woman brings tremendous community leadership to Golden Hill through her role at NieuCommunities. And together with Rob and Jon Huckins they are training leaders from all over North America to become embedded communities of faith & reconciliation through their work with Thresholds. ps: If only you could have joined us on the front porch for songs of revolution with my dear friend & permaculture trainer Colin Richard (see pic) - so good!
