On the slow meandering Melaka River, we enjoyed the 45-minute boat ride, with my nephew, Gary Ng 黄祖源, who joined us for this trip, to visit also the busy Jonker Walk, thronged with people. Streets are narrow and parkings attendants were doing their roaring trade. We tasted the Smelly or Rotten tofu or beancurd, there for the first time. May relished it very much and recalled her favorite food while studying at the Taiwan National U, in the mid-90s. Its a very much a history centric spot for all who love to know more about Melaka, or Malacca, it was once famously known as the colony of the Straits Settlements.
