On the subject of clearing floors, I did a DJ stint in the 90s at a bar in Covent Garden where I played Hip Hop and RnB. And not good hip hop either, Im talking 50 Cent top forty hip hop. Absolutely no underground music in anyway, pure chart hits. (In my defence it was very good pay, I was allowed more drinks that I needed, I had ear plugs and it was remarkably easy work). If it was under half full, we would shut early. So on those nights when the management were umming and ahhing about whether to stay open or not, I would crouch down in the booth so no one could see me, get on the mic, turn it down so that it was at a subliminal volume level - like you couldnt hear it above the music but it was showing on the mixer so it was still there - and then begin the mystical chants: Go home... its late, youre tired, the drinks are overpriced here... go home, if you leave now you can get the last tube... leave, no one else is going to turn up on this rainy Tuesday evening in February, go home... Great Days. Want some more? Read on... haroldshouse.blogspot.co.uk/
