On the subject of seasons changing, one positive (and perhaps the only positive) is that Truffles made it through another Summer. If we can get her to Fall weather, she may have another season or two. This Summer was devastating for her....we balanced her between Softride boots for her vascular problems...horrible feet and for her COPD...and the worsening of her lung disease. We are careful to measure her quality of life. The Softride boots truly help her feet but without them she is very sore. Her breathing has worsened and it seems the only thing that truly helps is Azium. But Azium is contraindicated with Laminitis. It has been a balancing act. She is so beautiful and youthful....she responds so well to kindness and gentleness...it is heartbreaking to witness the bad days. But the good days still outweigh them so we will hope to get through this Winter and deal with the growing season next year.
