On the subject of space, specifically, our solar system: Out - TopicsExpress

On the subject of space, specifically, our solar system: Out solar system orbits the Sun in a near perfect flat, disc shape. When traveling through space, we travel flat across that disc. I wonder if the is anything "above" or "below" our solar system we could send space probes out to. I realize space is ALL around us so do we only send our space probes out linearly simply because we can take pictures and readings of other planets in our solar system on the way out (i.e. voyager 1 and 2) and use planets gravity to gain speed or is there just really nothing up or down that we can bother seeing/visiting/heading towards?
