On the subject of tipping people: (Specifically, pizza delivery drivers) I know youre out there. Those of you who think a $1 tip on a $40 pizza and beer tab is quite sufficient for the twenty-nothing, scruffy-haired, slack-jaw indolent kid in the early 90s model Honda Civic who showed up at your door with your food. I say to you: You suck! Yes, he didnt have to return to your table multiple times to refill your water glass and get you a new fork when you dropped it on the floor, but he sure as hell had to fight traffic, dodge cops and drunk drivers, and haul ass as much as possible to get your pizza to you still warm so you wouldnt complain about it without the damn thing ending up in the floor of his car when he took a turn at the limit of adhesion, all while spending his own money for gasoline and putting wear and tear on his own car! Sure, he got to wear whatever clothes he wanted and listen to whatever his choice of shitty music is, but he deserves at least 10%, just like the bartender at your favorite pub does. I will paraphrase my friend Worth: If you cant afford to tip properly, you cant afford to order delivery. And, to the kid who delivered my food tonight, please accept my apology for having my knucklehead visitor dog, Jax, rush out the door at you. Thank you for not dropping the growler. I hope the extra $2 I added to your tip made up for it.
