On the tenth day of Christmas we remember the unexpected arrival - TopicsExpress

On the tenth day of Christmas we remember the unexpected arrival under horrible conditions of eight little ponies who just deserved so much better... In the early summer of 2014, Bransby Horses provided a home to eight lovely ponies that had been seized by the RSPCA due to serious neglect. The eight ponies, ranging from around eighteen months to fifteen years of age had no access to water and cramped, heavily soiled living conditions alerted the RSPCA to take action quickly. Aggressive, non-understanding owners only added to the problem as they did not want to accept any help offered. The horses were housed at undisclosed premises whilst the owners were trialled. Bransby Horses agreed to take eight into our care in order to provide more direct care to the horses that were desperately in need of skilled husbandry. The ponies either had severely over-grown hooves or they were cut back so short it was extremely painful for them to even stand. After receiving emergency treatment from the vet and farrier and made as comfortable as possible, all of the horses were feeling much more sprightly. Other ailments were also evident from Sarcoids, to worm burdens and sweet itch to injuries and deformities. The team put all of their energy in to tending the group of ponies to ensure they had every bit of professional help necessary to end their suffering. Happily we can let you all now that the group are all much, much happier animals. Little Stella the beautiful black Shetland was the first to fly our nest and found her Friend 4 Life rather quickly! It was a very proud day when she left the sanctuary to go to a perfect home! Stunning Molly has been in our Rehoming Centre and is being trained to be a children’s riding pony! We are so excited about her future. Hector, Lilly, Jilly, Ed and Babe are all very happy with life in the sanctuary and we know they will have future filled with the freedoms they deserve! Freedom from hunger and thirst, from discomfort, from pain, injury and disease, freedom from fear and stress and the freedom to behave as nature intended are all vital to the health and happiness of any animal.
