On the theme of vivid dreams: Last night I dreamed of quite an animated debate on the nature of self with Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear (UK). My point was that as your birth certificate is actually property of the state, as is your national id or Social Security. So therefore, that which is supposed to prove your identity, is not actually yours. (that is actually true) Furthermore, even if you have a birth certificate, what does it prove? Are you Jeremy? What is this Jeremy? A name? Here is the truth... if you lose your birth certificate and are in a foreign country and you have no way of getting a copy of a copy... or any other identifying documents.... according to the powers that be you are no one. In their terms you are neither dead nor alive... you are nothing. HOW INSANE??? You are not your name... you are not your id... what is this you... does it not exist beyond bureaucracy? How do you prove WHO you are? I could say I am Jenn, but what does that mean... Yes... hours of existential ramblings... in an inescapable dream... with... none other than Jeremy Clarkson... who just kept saying... but... but... but... The animation was was clearly on my part... I was quite excited about this insight.... LOL...
