On the train home back to London from Scotland where I was at a retreat organised by isyllabus.org.uk. Alhumdollilah, it was a much needed break from the norm with inculpable company and two extraordinarily gifted, young scholars who not only taught us about the most praiseworthy man, Rasul Allah ﷺ to have walked this planet but also how they epitomise him in many ways. If I had to summarise what I learnt at this retreat in the midst of scenic outdoors, away from the hustle bustle of an urban city, I would list these as my top 5 points: 1) Study the Seerah & Shamail to understand and learn from our Sayedina Mustafa (the Chosen One), sallallahu alayhe wa sallam. 2) Even if you cant learn or struggle to memorise duas, surahs or different types of salawat, dont worry, make dua for Allah سبحانه و تعالى to make it easy for you. At least learn one salawat (durood). Even if its the smallest one there is. And Recite it at the least x 10 a day & again in the evening. In sha Allah that alone would suffice for us. But remember, thats a minimum. The best of all the salawat is Durood e Ibrahim (the one you recite is Salaah). 3) The names of Rasul Allah ﷺ are a refreshing reminder of his attributes for us (so study them, learn them or recite Dalail Khayraat) and why we should praise the one that even Allah سبحانه و تعالى Himself praises! As mentioned in Surah Ahzab (33:56) 4) Adhkaar of the morning & evenings is your shield of protection. Bare minimum. Be people of dhikr & fikr (33:40 - 42) 5) If you want to love Allah سبحانه و تعالى or claim to love Him, then follow the footsteps of HabibAllah sallallahu alayhe wa sallam then see how Allah سبحانه و تعالى Loves you. Its a chain, a circle of life promising tawfique in both the worlds.
