On the unceded Coast Salish Territory, commonly known as Burnaby Mountain, a movement is growing. Texas based oil company, Kinder Morgan, is trying to do survey work with intentions of ramming a tar sands pipeline through the mountain. Kinder Morgan does not have consent from the indigenous peoples whose land they are operating on, residents of the area, or the City Council of Burnaby. In response to the proposed survey work, a group of concerned people have taken to monitoring the mountain 24 hours a day, this has been happening since September 3. On November 17, Sut-lut, a Sḵwx̱ú7mesh Elder who started the Sacred Fire, spoke an hour before the enforcement injunction came into effect. #BurnabyMountain #StopKinderMorgan #KMface
