On the way to Akita a few months ago, I laughed as the local train stopped at Touge Station. I was with my favorite housemate (a Japanese girl), and she was curious as to why I was laughing. I explained that toge in Tagalog means bean sprouts. A week ago, the said housemate went on a trip to Bali. Usually, this girl doesnt like sending text messages, but yesterday she sent me one just to say, They also call bean sprouts toge here!! Ah, the Tagalog words she learns from me.
