On this 13th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11/14, I would like to give a shout out to the (3) detectives from the 23 Precinct Detective Squad who responded to that location with me on 9/11/01. Here is to Detective Billy Hicks, Jimmy Zarakas, and Zedichiah Jennings. Fidelis ad Mortem, the finest of the Finest. The police have taken a beating in recent weeks both on facebook, in the media, and in many peoples thoughts and opinions. Just remember when civilians run away from danger the police run toward it and thats what separates us from them. Throughout my nearly 27 year police career with the NYPD myself and others that wore the uniform or carried the shield in the their pocket never wavered. Whether it was to arrest one of Americas most wanted, or rapists, pedophiles, murderers, the NYPD got the job done. I wouldnt have wanted to respond to these dangerous jobs with anyone else but other cops, not journalists, not comics, not used car salesmen, not academics, not reverends, not pundits, not Monday morning quaterbacks, but the real POLICE. So when people criticize our profession just realize that much of it comes from jealousy and much of it because they live in a country where the police protect their rights to speak.
