On this 26th day of February in 1928, New Orleans R&B legend Antoine Fats Domino was born in The Crescent City. Fats was the biggest selling Black artist of the 50s. Domino`s first single The Fat Man (from which ?Fats? got his name) is in every discussion about the first Rock n Roll record. It made #2 on the R&B charts, selling over a million copies.Fats didn`t cross over to the pop charts untill 1955, with Ain`t That A Shame. Once he did cross over, he stayed there. From 1955 to 1963, Domino had an extraordinary 35 Top Forty hits.Songs like Blueberry Hill, Walkin` To New Orleas, Whole Lotta Lovin, I`m Walkin, Blue Monday, and I`m In Love Again are well-known to nearly everyone.
