On this Day in Weather History... In 1992, late night severe thunderstorms whip lashed North Central and Northeast Kansas with 60 to 110 mph winds. Hardest hit was Concordia, where a peak 1 minute speed of 108 mph was measured at Blosser Airport. Sustained speeds exceeded 60 mph for an incredible 20 minutes. Around $25 million damage resulted that included the National Weather Service Office which was partially unroofed. Six people were injured.
