On this, Mother’s Day, the Indiana Fire Association would like to acknowledge the countless sacrifices made by Mothers on our behalf. If your mom is like mine, then she’s a saint. As a son, I have tormented that poor woman in every way imaginable. Then I became a Fire Fighter. Now, my mom is no slacker herself! I remember the days of her riding her dirt bike, I see photos of her with horse & stable and now she volunteers with my Dad with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. But being the mother of a Fire Fighter, volunteer or career, can be a harrowing experience. Mom always had a smile but deep down I could understand her concern. Countless stories about the near misses and why it was okay to burn my ears, to the odd firehouse antics, to the countless missed meals and why all my clothes I own smell like a house fire. Thanks Mom for understanding the calling. So today we honor, celebrate and cherish Mothers everywhere. Happy Mother’s Day!
