On this Sunday, as one who believes in God, I am assured that His plans are to prosper me, not to destroy me. So even in these challenging times, I know this is when to put on my best clothes, best behavior, plan well and talk, work, deliver to please. This is the time to invest AND borrow not for consumption but for productive activity to deliver goods and services needed by the people. So yes, we are living in challenging times with: - interrupted power supply - liquidity crisis - huge outstanding government contractor liabilities - increasing loan defaults or infrequent repayments - non performing loans - high interest rates eroding profit margins and plunging many into loss positions - high inflation driving up the cost of doing business and cost of living for our employees and customers - etc., etc BUT, we are also in the midst of tremendous opportunities What do we need to do? - strategize, start small, work hard, sacrifice comfort for long-term benefit - Agro or food and related businesses needed - shareholder discipline and management controls are necessary - establish work culture and disseminate, train and reward deserving employees - implement technology and more technology - invest inhuman capital development/training Papa Kwesi Nduom
