On this date at about 1:30 pm, members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to Tioga State Bank located at 1430 Upper Front St., Town of Chenango, for a bank teller alarm. Upon arrival of the first deputy, it was confirmed that a robbery had taken place several minutes before. The suspect had taken a quantity of cash and left the area in a red SUV. Deputies on scene immediately broadcast the description of the suspect and vehicle involved via police radio. Within several minutes a New York State Police unit on Route 11 in the Town of Barker radioed that he was following a vehicle matching the description. The State Police unit was able to stop the vehicle and take the driver, Mark W. Cunningham, into custody. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. Upon further investigation, evidence from the robbery was located on Cunningham’s person and in his vehicle. The entire amount of the stolen cash was recovered. Cunningham’s vehicle was impounded and towed to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation. Cunningham was transported to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office for additional interview and arrest processing. He was charged with Robbery 3rd degree, a class D felony. Cunningham was arraigned in the Town of Chenango Court and remanded to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Facility to await further action in Broome County Court. Due to investigative identification procedures performed during this investigation, we are not releasing a booking photo at this time. No one was injured during this incident. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police. Arrestee: Mark W. Cunningham, 55 years of age Hastings St. Binghamton, NY 13901 Charges: Robbery 3rd degree, a class D felony
