On this date in 1938, Chester Carlson produced the first electrophotographic image, paving the way for the invention of the Xerox machine. I remember the first copier I ever saw. It was in a railroad depot in Baytown, Texas about 1969. It wasnt a Xerox. Looking back it was a real piece of crap but it was state of the art at that time. Of course we all had to climb on top of it and take a picture our butts. And take pictures of money. In the mid 80s I worked with a girl who had gone through the training they were giving new railroad employees at that time. She had gone to the home office in St. Louis and they had taken her to the place where they had the laser printer. You had to have a high clearance to get anywhere close to that. She described it to me but I had no idea what she was talking about.
