On this date in 1962, Frank Morris and brothers John and Clarence Anglin did something noone has ever been able to successfully achieve ... hence, today is ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ DAY ... in its 29 years of operation, there were 14 attempts to escape ... to this day, the 3 have not been found ... dead or alive ... making it the only successful escape ..... just goes to show, good planning and diligent determination can lead to success ..... so lets honor this determination by celebrating CORN ON THE COB DAY ... however, call me weird, but I dont really like corn ... so I will celebrate NATIONAL GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE DAY ... whos gonna forego the corn and join me? ..... and just in time to ring in carnival season ... its ROYAL HOT DOG DAY ... the day President FDR treated the King an Queen of England to this American fare on the front porch of his home in Hyde Park NY in 1939 ..... and its also NATIONAL COTTON CANDY DAY ..... for all my Hawaiian friends, its KING KAMEHAMEHA DAY .....
