On this date in weather history, December 3, 1986: A low pressure system from the Midwest moved northeastward and brought precipitation into the Mid-Atlantic states on the 2nd and 3rd. As the primary low began to occlude, a secondary low formed off of the Carolina coast. The coastal low brought rainfall totals upward of 2.00 inches to parts of New Jersey as it moved up the coast. The heavy rains associated with the system led to minor flooding on the Saddle River and the Millstone River in New Jersey.
