On this day,20th January,1975-Vol. Kevin Coen is shot dead by undercover British soldiers while manning an I.R.A. checkpoint on the Fermanagh/Sligo border. In 1971, Coen was imprisoned in Mountjoy Prison, Dublin,where he was jailed with fellow republican Dan Hoban. Kevin was killed while on active service at Cassidy’s Cross on the main Swanlinbar-Enniskillen road in Co.Fermanagh when undercover British troops in a civilian car opened fire on an IRA checkpoint. The date was January 20th,1975.
