On this day, 28 years ago, the nuclear reactor at Chernobyl, Ukraine, had a fatal accident. Nothing was known until two days later, when increased radioactive levels were measured at the Forsmark nuclear power plant north of Stockholm, Sweden. Similar findings were made in Finland. Finally the USSR admitted the accident.
