On this day, 45 years ago, David Bowies 2nd album was released via Mercury/Philips. Entitled David Bowie, this album was later re-released as Space Oddity in 1972. Note: The US version is incorrectly known as Man of Words/Man of Music. This is NOT the album title. It simply is a quote added by the record label. The original album cover was designed by David and Calvin Mark Lee. The overlaid photograph was taken by Vernon Dewhurst. The graphic artwork is a 1965 design from Hungarian-French artist Victor Vasarely entitled CTA 25 Neg ™ The back cover was a painting entitled Width Of A Circle created by friend and artist George Underwood. 1. First a solo gig at Adam Smith Hall in Kirkcaldy, Fife and later a midnight performance at Friscos Club in Caley, Edinburgh. In the daytime, David did two radio interviews. BBC Glasgow with Ben Lyon, and DJT at The Electric Garden in Glasgow.
