On this day 6 years ago (December 3, 2008), I had my 4th brain surgery, my Lobectomy. I can’t believe that it has already been 6 years. Since then I have been seizure free! I still remember getting ready for the surgery. That day time drug by, but then it finally got here. I think it was the best choice for me to have the surgery. I can’t imagine what it would be like if I hadn’t had it. Around the middle of November every year, I reflect back to that year thinking “I am ready for December 3rd.” I thank God for helping me through it. I also thank him for my family, friends, old co-workers, and my doctors. I was blessed with amazing family and friends. My mom Lisa House Barham stayed by the hospital bed the whole time they’d let her. My dad Clay Barham came right when they let him off of work and stayed until he had to go home and rest for work. My sister Stormi Michelle Barham came each time with dad and stayed till he left. My Nannie stayed home with me every day when I came home, till someone else came home. In the end of it all, I have been seizure free, with only ONE side-effect of the surgery and that is that my short term memory is gone. So with only one side effect I have a lot to be thankful for.
