On this day, 73 years ago, Pearl Harbor was attacked, officially entering the US into WWII. As the years go by, less and less veterans of World War Two are with us. Even though many of you will be out shopping, watching football, going to services and doing many other every day things, stop for a second and reflect on the sacrifices these men and women of the Greatest Generation did without questioning and less on our 21st Century, have to have it now mentality of instant gratification. These veterans of World War II are becoming a smaller part of the fabric, as they are in their late 80s and 90s. If you have chance to talk with one and hear the stories, if they will even talk about it, it will truly give you a sense of life then, and I have and it gives a very different reality. This is a shout out to the men and women, still here and those already passed, of the Greatest Generation. The Wandering Puffin wont ever forget. This is not just a shout out to the Greatest Generation, but to all of the veterans, those serving now and since and the sacrifices you made. It does not have to be Veterans Day, since those in the service, serve every day. You followed the Greatest Generation and chose to serve, whether you volunteered or were drafted, when there was still a draft. Your service and sacrifice are no less important to the fabric of this country and I for one, appreciate all you have done and will never forget. Thank you for your service to this country.
