On this day..... My brother-in-law, Rick (sister Donnas husband) lost his father on Saturday. The funeral is today. The loss wasnt unexpected----and was one of those mixed blessings to end some suffering-----but I know too well about the loss of a Father. No matter the circumstances, it hurts. And it should. I suspect that the more it hurts, the more cherished was the relationship. Still, hurt is hurt. This does serve as a rather stark reminder to me at this time of year. Not a notion I ever lost track of, but always a reminder is needed and received---cherish what I have. Do not take the joys is life for granted. Time to reflect on all the good things in life. Cliche alert-----attitude of gratitude. Memories. Friends. Family. And all the other stuff that makes my life so sweet. So I ask this today-----in honor of Ricks father and all those loved ones who have left us too soon-----that we all take a moment to reflect on the simple joys that they left within us. They helped shape who we are and what we are. Time to thank. Time to think. Time to appreciate. To all------enjoy Thanksgiving.......with an old friend still in your heart.
