On this day five years ago my life changed. August 10, 2009 will be a day I always remember. It was a day that gave me validation. It was a day that I achieved a goal I had dreamed of. It was a day that proved a crazy idea and thousands of hours of work were worth it. On August 10, 2009 I sold the 365th day on the initial IWearYourShirt calendar. When I came up with the idea to get paid to wear t-shirts for a living, I had envisioned that happening, but had no clue how hard it would be to get there and how much it would mean to me. Success is often masked by monetary gain, but on that day, success was defined in validation. There were tons of naysayers along the way. Many times I thought about giving up because people told me what I was doing wasnt going to last or wasnt worthwhile (or that I was a sellout). With the help of my friends and family supporting me, countless hours of hard work, and a lot of you reading this status, IWearYourShirt became a success. Not because of an amount of money, not because of media attention, not because of one tipping point, but because I worked my ass off and I achieved something big that I set out to do. My wish for you is this: At some point in your life you get to have that same feeling I had five years ago. That you start some business, create some unique idea, put something into motion and you achieve your goal. But you have to be intentional about what you want in life so you can celebrate your successes. If a normal dude from Jacksonville, Florida (who knew nothing about filming videos, doing sales, using social media, etc) can have success with a crazy idea, so you can you. You just need to take action and put in hard work.
