On this day in 1215, the Barons army said to consist of Five Earls and forty Barons, mostly from the north, with many others; complete with horses and arms, and a countless host, estimated to comprise about two thousand knights, besides other horsemen, sergeants-at-arms, and foot soldiers, march on Northampton. Having taken the town, they lay siege to the castle, where many were killed including Fitz-Walters standard bearer. After two weeks, lacking siege engines they move on to Bedford Castle where William de Beauchamp readily gives up his castle before moving on to London.
