Offering his consolation to the widowed Eleanor Roosevelt, Harry Truman asked, Is there anything I can do for you? Mrs. Roosevelt responded, Is there anything we can do for you? For you are the one in trouble now. The relationship between Harry and Eleanor grew from a formal, often wary, political relationship into a strong friendship. Ultimately, Harry designated Eleanor as his representative to the United Nations and later coined her as the First Lady of the World.
