On this day in 1942: Judy was in rehearsals for her next (and last) co-starring role with Mickey Rooney in Girl Crazy. Rehearsed on this day: I Got Rhythm and Cafe Number (Mickeys Treat Me Rough number). Due to the complexity of the number, rehearsals lasted for several weeks before filming began in January 1943. Busby Berkeley was the director at this point. Once filming began in January he would wear everything, especially Judy, to a frazzle so much that Judy had to be confined to bed from exhaustion. Her physician Dr. Marcus Rabwin suggested she rest for three weeks. Berkeley was fired, Norman Taurog was brought in to direct the rest of the film, with Charles Walters staging the songs. It Got Rhythm became the films finale.
