On this day in 1963: Videotaping of both the dress rehearsal (from 5 - 7:30 p.m.), and the final performance (9 to 10:30 p.m.) of Episode #12 of The Judy Garland Show at CBS Television City, Stage 43, Hollywood. Judys guests were Vic Damone and Zina Bethume. Judys songs included: From This Moment On (opener; the audio had been prerecorded on October 31 to which Judy would lip-synch); Be My Guest with Damone and Bethume; Moon River; Getting To Know You (with Bethume); Porgy And Bess Medley (with Damone; again this medley was also prerecorded on October 31); All Purpose Holiday Song (with Damone & Bethume; also prerecorded on October 31). For the Born In A Trunk segment, Judy sang Smile and Rock-A-Bye Your Baby With A Dixie Melody followed by the close I Will Come Back. Also tape was the very last Tea For Two segment with Carl Reiner. However, the Tea For Two segment taped during Episode #6 (with George Jessel from the Steve Lawrence/June Allyson show) on September 13, was inserted into the air-tape of this program, which was quickly edited to air only two days after taping, on Sunday, November 3, 1963. The Chicago American paper on this date had a blurb in Bill Irwins column, reprinted in a Garland club journal: Judy said shes going to Hong Kong when she gets a vacation respite from television. She may also do a concert in Japan. She would go to Hong Kong, but not Japan, after the television series. youtu.be/gSA6nKupfLI You can download all of The Judy Garland Show prerecorded numbers here - just scroll down to 1963: thejudyroom/miscaudio.html #judygarland #thejudygarlandshow #vicdamone #zinabethume #georgejessel #thejudyroom
