On this day in 1971, Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton (New York Giants) and Hall of Fame linebacker Tommy Nobis (Atlanta Falcons) led the National Football Conference (NFC) over the American Football Conference (AFC), 27-6, in the NFL Pro Bowl. Playing at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, NFC quarterback Tarkenton, who split time with QB John Brodie (San Francisco 49ers), finished the game with 69 yards passing while Nobis and the NFC defense gave up only two field goals. This Pro Bowl, the first in which the NFC faced the AFC, was the sixth for Tarkenton and the fourth for Nobis.
