On this day in 1978 KISS released their solo albums. Each one was dedicated to the other three. All of the albums shipped platinum. Each album had a poster inside that was like a puzzle piece to put together to make a group poster. Paul and Aces albums seemed to get the best response from fans. Aces is my favorite. Genes album was just weird. He included so many guests including Cher who he was dating at the time. It evn included a cover of the song When You Wish Upon A Starr. Peters album was the farthest from KISS style music of the four and could be considered a jazz album. Looking back on it now I think it took a lot of courage on Peters part to do those songs. Its a very good album. A few songs from each album found their way into the live set on the Dynasty tour (New York Groove from Aces album was included on later tours also). The costumes on that tour matched the colors of the solo albums and the band started a new direction in their music that really didnt go over well with the die-hard fans.
