On this day in 1980, some schmuck shot and killed John Lennon. Three and a half decades later, Lennons best work has lost none of its power or relevance, and I dont think this album is any less harrowing or deeply felt than it was in 1970. (A couple songs, most notably Working Class Hero, are NSFW, but that didnt stop me from playing that song on my WMCD-AM radio show a few days after Johns death, since his catalog was playing non-stop on rock radio in the days that following the shooting but I had yet to hear what I thought was one of his most powerful and personal songs. Someone had to do it, and the responsibility seemingly fell to me.)
