On this day in 2014, many people across Australia came out in their thousands to protect the WA drum lines policy. Here is a message from our Chair, Natalie Banks to mark this occasion: On this day a year ago, thousands of people rallied together across Australia to protest drum lines being used to catch and kill sharks as a way to reduce shark bites. Many people could see that the policy was not based on science or reason. This one day would change lives, form strong friendships and bonded a community that wouldnt realise until many moments later how strong they were; whereby they would change government policy. This one day belongs to YOU. It was because YOU stood up, YOU agreed to be counted, YOU decided to say no that this issue received worldwide attention and the attention of celebrities which created more awareness & caused others focussed on this issue to join hands with you and say NO. Together we can create change, together we are strong, together we unite to fight a power much stronger than us individually. What a hell of a journey....The #noWAsharkcull community will be remembered for many many years to come and has already gone down into history books! Well done YOU!
