On this day in Godfrey family history- Alexander Underwood, my 7th great grandfather died, 31 Oct 1761. I am related to Alexander through my great grandmother Martha Allen. Alexander Underwood was a Quaker. According to Quaker records he was born in Maryland in 1688 and died in Pennsylvania in 1767. He mostly lived in York and Chester Counties in Pennslyvania. Alexander was a Quaker Minister for he last twenty-two years and traveled . twice journeyed to North Carolina. Alexander was 79 years old when he died. I find this amazing for a man in his late 70s to travel from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, back in a time when travel was not easy.
