On this day in Jazz history, Benny Golson born January 25th, 1929. One of recognizable tunes, Killer Joe, was featured in the movie, The Terminal (2004) in which the character, Viktor Navorski, played by Tom Hanks, was on a quest to get one last autograph of 57 jazz musicians in the infamous A Great Day in Harlem picture taken in 1958. The last signature was Benny Golson and (spoiler alert) he finally meets Golson and gets the wanted autograph. They end the scene with Golson performing Killer Joe.
