On this day in Yonkers history, July 16, 1928 Yonkers City Judge Boote announced to 20-year old student Donald Tyndal that he did not object to young men placing their arms around their girls but he had a problem with them doing it while driving! Tyndal was charged with driving 45 mph on the Bronx River Parkway with one arm around his girlfriend while out for an afternoon’s drive, and was too dangerous a practice to do so while driving on such a crowded thoroughfare.
